Seasonal colour types. Part 2

You learnt from my previous blog  about warm colour types such as Spring and Autumn. It is now turn for Cool colour types: Summer and Winter.

SUMMER: soft light cool

Skin: cool undertone, low contrast between hair and skin. Cheeks turn a cool, rosy colour when blush.
Hair: light blond to medium brown. Cool, ashy undertones.
Eyes: blue, grey-blue, cool green, grey brown, slate.

Summer colours:

Ideal colours for summer are cool colours with blue base, soft, muted, creamy, blurry and pastel tones of grey, blue and pink. Bright colours with cool tone are not recommended around portrait zone.

WINTER: clear deep cool

Skin: cool or olive undertone. there can be high contrast between skin, hair and eyes or low contrast with deep overall colouring.
Hair: ashy mid-brown, dark brown to black.
Eyes: mid-brown to black-brown, grey-blue, clear-blue, cool green.

Winter colours:

Ideal colours for Winter - pitch black and snow white. It is recommended to go for deep, bright colours rather than pastel, muted ones.
Jewellery - silver, platinum, cool white coloured metals, black onyx.

I described the pure seasonal colour types, however there are lots of people with mixed seasonal colour types. This is another big topic for discussion and I will write about it in my future blogs. So stay tuned.
Also I do not want to limit you within colours of your type only. You may use matching colours of another seasonal type, but avoid using them around your portrait zone (zone close to your face) and take into account your body shape. Light colours give volume, dark colours make your body thinner.

Remember, using wrong colour around your portrait zone will make you look drained, tired or even older. However sometimes we buy very expensive or at a hard-to-resist discounted price, high quality garment that, may be even, flatters your body shape, but does not match your seasonal colour type at all.
What to do in such case? You can fix this with accessories of your colour type, like necklace, scarf, broach and make-up. This is the temporary solution until you are ready to remove that garment from your wardrobe. Meanwhile try to minimize such kind of garments in your wardrobe.
Here are examples of how to wear colours outside of your colour palette:
